Trees of Giants
By Vivi Sojorhn
They are a wonderful
Stumps of living from so
Long ago, we can only
Imagine a different world
In this desert of yucca and
Prickly pear blossoms
The tree covered the ground
With dappled shadows
Giants passed below
Sloths, and Dire Wolves and Mamoth
Families loping with North American horses
Volcanos exploded a day that made
Eternity of this forest
But death is not so among
The crooked broken trunks
A pine has lost its cone
In the small cracks
And sprouted a new tree
Reincarnating in any space available.
In any time available.
