A Realm of Sacred Joy

Long Summer Evenings

It is a delightful temperature. Makes me feel the chill from the grass and the heat of pavement, and the sense I long for it to last, to stay this way forever so I can slip into the shadows and watch the mountains turn magenta and Prussian blue while the sky is golden and pink like a juicy peach dripping down my chin. The sounds of children playing and having those precious discussions about why summer should last and school should be canceled. The street lights are coming on and I can almost hear my Mama calling me in to take a bath. She knew I would resist for three times. I will tonight too until only the traffic of airplanes is heard and the geese float upon the lake with moonbeams.
